The Wednesday night in advance of Christmas, I participated in a assistance at our church that brought jointly several generations through art and the gospel. 4 artists (elementary college student, middle school university student, me, and a retired man or woman) ended up questioned to build paintings that were our interpretation of Luke 2. They positioned our get the job done on stage, and interviewed each individual of us one particular at a time. They requested what in the text stood out to us, motivated us, or challenged us & how we represented that within our do the job. They also requested what stylistic selections we produced in just our do the job that aided convey the heart of our art. It was affirming, to me, as a believer & an artist to be a element of this support. The fact that we as artists have been offered a platform to provide the Lord with our gifts/abilities & share the gospel by way of our function is not some thing I take for granted. This is not going on in a good deal of church buildings…over and above executing crafts with little ones or portray sets for VBS. We ,as believers, need to have to come across the gifts/skills of our folks and allow them to use all those diverse, wonderful, and distinctive talent sets to build up the overall body of believers…share God’s really like, and glorify the Lord. Bakers, automotive, organizers, hair dressers, gardners….can all be done for the glory of the Lord. It’s time to check out “ministry” as a way of everyday living and not a slim approved work description/function within the church. I liked every single get the job done & the terms every artist shared. It really was a blessing.
